So beware of this con game played at the Rapid City Airport and hang on to your wallet because they will take you for a ride. When I got home, I did a little research and it turns out the Enterprise, National and Alamo are all part of the same same company - something called Drive Alliance. At any rate the customer ends up paying a lot more than expected. By the way, the National clerk is also the Alamo clerk here and appears to work with the Enterprise clerk across from him.

So we were stuck renting a convertible from National at twice the rate plus a limit on free miles. He had canceled it without our permission. Sorry, he said, but your reservation has been canceled and he had nothing to rent. So we returned to Enterprise and told the nasty employee we would take the van. So we did, and all they had were convertibles at twice the rate. The employee, a very rude person, suggested that we try the other companies to see what the had. We had reserved a car (Corolla or similar) far in advance with Enterprise, but when we arrived they had only one vehicle - a van with no way of covering our luggage(like a trunk). So it is pretty easy for them to take you for a ride. At the airport, all the rental companies are in one small room with a lot of interaction between employees of the brands. What is most interesting here in Rapid City, is that Enterprise, National and Alamo work together to rip you off.
